“Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift each of you like wheat. But I have pleaded in prayer for you, Simon, that your faith should not fail. So when you have repented and turned to me again, strengthen your brothers” [Luke 22:31-32, NLT].
We previously established that it is possible to lose your faith in God no matter how many years you have been born again [https://vlbiblestudy.wordpress.com/2014/01/03/1824/]. That is why Apostle Paul calls us to “fight the good fight of faith and lay hold of eternal life” [1 Timothy 6:12]. The good fight of faith is not against:
a) Sin or the Sin problem because Christ dealt with when He nailed all the sins of the world on the cross and gave us His Spirit [Romans 6, 2 Corinthians 5:17-21, Colossians 1:13-14, 1 John 3:4-9].
b) Satan or his cohorts because Christ made an open spectacle of them and defeated them both at the cross and when he went to hell. Now we are seated with Him in heavenly placed far above all these principalities [Ephesians 1:20-23, Colossians 2:13-15, John 16:33, I John 4:4, 1 John 5:4].
c) Diseases or any thing that currently plagues or challenges you because God has given you everything that pertain to this life and to Godliness and has blessed you with all blessings in spiritual places [Ephesians 1:3, 2 Peter 1:3].
Truly, the good fight of faith is simply to maintain the faith you possess through your confessions and deeds, because the devil is going round roaring like a lion not only to sift you as wheat but to also devour you after you have been sifted. That is why we face temptations; they are there to sift us, cause us to slip and lose our faith through the agents of guilt and condemnation.
In this good fight of faith, you will have to “Strip down, start running—and never quit! No extra spiritual fat, no parasitic sins” [Hebrews 12:1, The Message]. Yes, it is possible to lose your faith but it is also possible to not lose your faith once you “watch and pray lest you fall into temptation” [ Luke 22:46, NIV]. Also remember that God has not left you helpless and has promised to provide a way of escape when faced with temptations [1 Corinthians 10:13].
When it is all said and done, there are crowns of life and glory for those who endure till the end because they have understood and walked this life knowing that NOTHING shall by any means separate them from the love of God. The script has already been written and the end of the story reads VICTORY, for you. So don’t give up, fight that GOOD fight of faith.
