Trust in the Lord…

1 Chronicles 5:18-20 NLT
There were 44,760 capable warriors in the armies of Reuben, Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh. They were all skilled in combat and armed with shields, swords, and bows. They waged war against the Hagrites, the Jeturites, the Naphishites, and the Nodabites. They cried out to God during the battle, and he answered their prayer because they trusted in him. So the Hagrites and all their allies were defeated.

It is so easy for us to rely on our human strength and ability because that is what we think is reality. We reason and wonder why we have to wait on a God we cannot see, touch or feel to come through for us, especially when we can make things happen in our own way and time. Yet, what we fail to realize is that there is a way that seems right unto man, but its end thereof is destruction. What you seem to think may be the right way may end up being the wrong way, causing all your years and energy of trying to yield little to  no return.

However, there is a more excellent way and that way is found in God. The essence of believing in God and in Jesus Christ is built on faith, and without faith it is impossible to please God. Faith and trust are not the same but they go hand in hand. You cannot have faith in God and not trust in Him. Faith brings hope into the now (Heb 11:1) but trust is “reliance on and confidence in the truth, worth, reliability, etc, of a person or thing.”

You have faith in God, wonderful! Now prove it by trusting in Him. Even the demons believe in God’s existence but what will set you apart is your ability to translate this faith into your actions, which will indicate just how much you trust in Him. How much do you trust God? You trust God by taking His Word over any opinions, ideologies or customs you may have. Have you ever sought His input in anything You have done? Before you entered into that relationship, did you seek His input? Before you accepted that job offer did you seek His guidance? Before you stepped out of your house did you thank Him for safe travels knowing and trusting He will bring you safely to your destination? You can sing, glory to God but do you spend time in His presence before picking up the microphone or are you trusting your voice and not His anointing to carry you through? Pastor, are you trusting in your charisma to turn the hearts of stone into hearts of flesh?

Despite having the abilities and the manpower for war, the Israelites still chose to TRUST God for victory. When they did, the battle moved from being theirs to being God’s battle. Is that your mindset too? At the end of the day we all trust in something or someone and who we trust in will be revealed when the results show. It is those who know their God who can put their trust in Him. Those who trust in Him make giant strides and not small steps in their progress. By trusting in God and relying in His guidance, it would take you 10 weeks what it would take someone else 10 years to accomplish. That is why it is very important to develop intimate fellowship with the Lord. Get to know Him through His Word; spend quality time searching the scriptures so you can have a sure foundation to stand on. Through His Word and His Spirit, the Lord will teach you whether to go left or to go right.

Trust in God; add to your faith in Him, an unwavering trust. “Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God ’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track. Don’t assume that you know it all”, (Proverbs 3:5-6, The MSG)
