Some trust in chariots & horses…

“There were 44,760 capable warriors in the armies of Reuben, Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh. They were all skilled in combat and armed with shields, swords, and bows. They waged war against the Hagrites, the Jeturites, the Naphishites, and the Nodabites. They cried out to God during the battle, and he answered their prayer because they trusted in him. So the Hagrites and all their allies were defeated” [1 Chronicles 5:18-20 NLT].

It is easy for us to rely on our human strength and ability because that is what we think of as reality. We reason and wonder why we have to wait on a God we cannot see, touch or feel to come through for us, especially when we can make things happen in our own way and time. Yet, what we fail to realize is that there is a way that seems right unto man, but its end thereof is destruction. What you seem to think maybe the right way, may end up being the wrong way, causing a waste of time and energy, yielding little to no return.

However, there is a more excellent way and that way is found in God. The essence of believing in God and in Jesus Christ is built on faith, and without faith, it is impossible to please God. Faith and trust are not the same, but they go hand in hand. You cannot have faith in God and not trust in Him. Faith brings hope into the now [Heb 11:1], but trust is “reliance on and confidence in the truth, worth, reliability, etc, of a person or thing”. It is a good thing that you have faith in God, wonderful! Now prove it by trusting in Him. Even the demons have faith in God’s existence, but what will set you apart is your ability to translate this faith into tangible actions. The corresponding actions serve to indicate just how much you trust in Him.

The way you trust God is by taking His Word over any opinions, ideologies or customs you may have. How much do you trust in God? Have you ever sought His input on anything You have done? Before you entered into that relationship, did you seek His input? Before you accepted that job did you seek His guidance? Before you stepped out of your house did you thank Him for safe travels knowing He will bring you safely to your destination Despite having the abilities and the manpower for war, the Israelites still chose to TRUST God for victory. When they did, the battle moved from being theirs to being God’s battle. Is that your mindset?

It is those who know their God who can put their trust in Him. Those who trust in Him make strides and not steps in progress. What it takes someone to do in 40 years, can take you 4 months, by trusting in God. Get to know God through His Word. Spend quality time searching the scriptures so you can have a sure foundation to stand on. Then fellowship constantly with the Holy Spirit; he will teach you whether to go left or to go right. Then you can boldly say, Some trust in chariots and some in horses, But we will remember and trust in the name of the Lord our God [Psalms 20:7, AMP].

Trust in God. Add to your faith in Him, an unwavering trust. Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God ’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track. Don’t assume that you know it all” [Proverbs 3:5-6, The MSG].
